Archaeological guided walk with Steve Patton

July 22nd

Brief notes:

Tour of the coombe causewayed enclosure and then visit to beehive plantation to view excavations and understand the space in more detail.

Handout

https://historicengland.org.uk/images-books/publications/iha-causewayed-enclosures/

Unusual to have two causewayed enclosures so close to each other.

References of maps from chapter in ‘marking place’

Further things to look at:

Look at Sussex Archaeology Collection 89 – 92

https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/library/browse/details.xhtml?recordId=3241875

and Peter Drewit’s documentation from the 50’s of the space.

Visual look at Ebsfleet ware plus beaker pottery and possibly Roman pottery.

Look at videos of pre recorded tour from lock down:

Main note is the project and how to get in touch with them to see if there is anything that I could look at regarding wellbeing and space and storytelling etc…
